On a distant planet, Astronaut Taylor crashes to find a world inhabited and ruled by talking apes; where humans are the feral and hunted. The apes are divided into a strict class system: orangutans as administrators, politicians and lawyers; the chimpanzees as intellectuals and scientists; the gorillas as police, military and hunters.

General Ursus is very much the stereotypical "mad general." On top of being a brutish gorilla, he is mainly interested in his own dreams of conquest, glory and power.
