¡Hola! (Hello!) I'm Spanish Barbie Welcome to my fascinating country, rich in beauty and contrasts. Our regions range from the snowy Pyrenees mountains to the sunny beaches of the Costa del Sol. We have the world's most varied climate, and more types of vegetation than most countries in Europe

Spain is a land noted for culture and history Our capital city, Madrid, has many palaces and museums, with exhibitions of paintings by Velásquez, Goya and other noted artists. Visitors to the city of Granada will be Impressed by the magnificent Alhambra palace, one of the world's most famous examples of ornate Moorish architecture. In Altamira in Northern Spain, you can see primitive paintings made by cave dwellers who lived 40,000 years ago!

We Spanish have a great zest for life. We love to celebrate with fiestas. where we enjoy feasting, fireworks and dancing. One of our most famous dances is the colorful flamenco, with stomping of heels and clicking of castanets. Every fiesta has different attractions. In Pamplona, the "running of the bulls" (where brave men try to outrun the bulls) marks the Feast of San Fermin. Spaniards also love sports, especially soccer, and jai- alai, a very fast ball game

Delicious food is at the heart of many family celebrations, where we often serve paella, a tasty dish of rice and shellfish. In hot weather, we enjoy gazpacho, a tangy cold tomato soup. At fiestas, we have special sweets, like turrón, candy made with almonds and honey (my favorite!)

I am wearing an outfit inspired by the traje de luces (suit of lights), worn by toreadors. The bolero, vest and pants all have rich golden designs. I also wear the traditional hat, pink socks and a dashing red cape! Ole!
