Description

Belrose Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade was officially formed in 1951, and is situated in the northern beach area of Sydney, in Warringah Shire. The Brigade presently occupies a very modern brick four-bay station which was built by the Brigade members. The station has been called one of the best Bush Fire Stations in the state. The Brigade's present equipment consists of two Cat 1 Isuzu heavy tankers, one Toyota personnel carrier and one fully restored 1942 Ford Blitz tanker, which is now used for display purposes. Belrose Brigade has, over the years, attended fires all over NSW, and currently has 45 active firefighters. The Bedford Tanker was truly a multi- functional fire fighting vehicle. It could rely on its own tank of water or "drop hose" to the nearest hydrant. In World War II, when allied planes landed on airfields in flames, this firefighter came to their rescue. With its 500 gallon tank it could quickly extinguish the blaze.
