A bazaar is being held to raise money for the Confederate Military Hospital in Atlanta. Southern belles glide gracefully across the floor in huge hoop skirts while courtly gentlemen gallantly attend them. Into this lively throng steps the blockade-running hero, Rhett Butler.

When the gentlemen are invited to bid for a dance with their favorite ladies, Captain Butler bids a whopping $150 in gold for the newly widowed Scarlett O'Hara Hamilton. Scandal ignites when Scarlett accepts, leaving everyone aghast as the rascal and the spitfire lead the Virginia Reel.

Dressed in widow's black, Scarlett dances with gusto though officially in mourning. Rhett is also in black - the elegant black of a well-cut tuxedo, accented by a white ruffled shirt, bow tie and vest. Add a dashing cape coat and top hat, and he looks every bit the splendid rogue he is.
